I was just wondering if babies can be given bottles containing milk from an animal. For example is it okay to give cow milk to a baby?

I am not sure of it for animal milks are being processed before they are made available to the public.

I read that cow's milk is already ok to give to your baby after 1 year old.

In India, cow's milk is considered most nutritious and the best food for kids, it is considered the second best after a mother's milk. If for some reason, a mother is unable to nurse her baby, they are given cow's milk only. Cow's milk is proper pasteurised and then boiled before it is given to babies. It is easily digestible and has no side effects at all.

So both are okay, i.e processed milk and the one that comes straight from the cow? I don't know why but I'm leaning towards the latter.

Totally! But the cow has to be reared in hygienic environment and not fed with chemically-processed cattle feed, otherwise the milk will still be laden with chemicals and toxins!

I'm really glad I came across this thread because this question has been bugging me for a while as well. It's finally good know that cow milk is also good for the baby, as long as the cow is clean of course. Thanks for the intel.

Okay. I'm at peace now that I know cow milk can't hurt a baby.

In the rural areas, it is very rare to see a baby using the bottle. The culture there is more for the financial aspect since powdered milk is expensive. But in cases when the mother cannot provide milk, the substitute is goat's milk.

I hear goat milk is very nutritious. Actually, there is an aunt of mine who I lived with for 3 years I was in school, and she used to make tea using goat milk. It has a different taste to it, but it is really good.

I have never had goat milk, but if I had a chance to, I would not mind. I have heard only good things, which made me wonder why most people aren't familiar with it.

Also most people that have problems when they take cow's milk, goat's can be used as an alternative. It actually contains slightly less lactose than cow's milk.

That is true. It also has higher amounts of potassium, iron and vitamin A than cows’ milk.

Very nutritious if I do say so myself. I know Ethiopians love camel milk and they say it packs a lot of nutrients.

Yes they do. It is a good alternative to milk for kids with cow milk allergies. Also, it has less fat.

I read a research somewhere that camel milk has good effects on behavioral conditions in children, and people suggest that it may aid those with autism.
