This is a usual problem of parents with the baby that wakes up at midnight and wouldn't sleep anymore. Worse, the baby wants to play with you. One remedy according to the pediatrician is to make the baby awake starting at 6 pm. Even when the baby becomes sleepy, play with the baby until the bedtime hour of 9 pm or 10 pm. For sure the baby would be sound asleep until morning.

Many a times babies with colic are the ones who have trouble sleeping at night. Many babies just want to keep awake and play with their mothers. My son kept me awake at night for a whole year, it was a very difficult time for me. @Alexandoy that is a good tip but how can the babies be kept awake??

Play with the baby until the baby closes his eyes. But be sure that the baby is well-fed before the playing so that when he falls asleep then it would be all right.

I think that that's the best thing to do given that the baby will be very tired to stay up by the time that late night comes in.

To keep your baby asleep all night, start by feeding him/her until they are full, follow with a bath and now you can escort them to bed and make sure you read them a short story or sing lullabies to them. Avoid making unnecessary noice in the middle of the night.
