Joining competitions

    An achiever child is encouraged to join competitions not exactly to win but to experience the struggle. In one tv reality show of young chefs it was found out that the stiff competition had entered the nerves of the participants that failure couldn't be accepted. The losers were heartbroken.

    Well, I don't agree that "everyone is a winner" - to a point. However, though, someone going out and trying - is still better than someone who doesn't - generally speaking. Anyway, a big debate is happening among cultural liberals vs conservatives - where conservatives are accusing modern parents of making kids "soft". Well, as I just said, I agree with them - to a point. I mean, it's all about extremes.

    Anyway, as side thought, math, for example - is all about the struggle. That's how you learn - and I think most teachers are more impressed with struggle than a correct answer!
