The media has a great impact on the development of the children is intense. Therefore, it is paramount for parents to discuss with their child's subjection to media and to provide guidance. The objective of this statement is to explore the beneficial and harmful effects of media on children.

The Internet has notable potential for providing children with access to educational information, can be compared with a huge home library. However, there are many concerns like the lack of editorial standards limits internet reliability as a source of information. What other concerns do you know of?

It depends on what kind of media will the child be exposed. The print media, the radio and TV media and the Internet.

In the print media, the child may get lost while reading for the info or knowledge may get is very limited.

In the radio and TV or broadcast media, the child may be interested especially when he idolizes one or two of the broadcasters. But the extent of influence for his faculty development may be in optimum.

In the Internet, the child if not guided and monitored by his parents may be disastrous to his holistic progression. Addiction to Internet may be uncontrollable if the parents wouldn't do something before its too late.

One of the big problems with mainstream media is that there is almost always some sort of ulterior agenda, usually political.

I don't want to use the term 'brainwashing' but let's be honest, kids don't have the same critical thinking skills that adults do, and they may begin to believe things just because they've been told to.

Then again, it seems like a lot of adults have problems thinking for themselves also, hahaha.

Well the internet is like tv, so it also needs to be regulated for kids not to be able to watch porn and other prohibited programs and other articles. It has no network regulation, so parents should be vigilant. I know there is a software that can regulate what children can see online.

I know of some children who are addicted to watching videos on YouTube. One of them is my nephew who watches any kind of video from animals, movies, and whatever. It is like watching tv for him. If he would watch educational videos then I think that is okay. But to spend the whole day in watching videos, that is already an undesired addiction.

There is exposure everywhere starting with peers. There is little that can be done by wards to deter kids from getting involved with something that can vitiate their minds. Keeping them occupied with adults monitoring could be one solution.
