It has been noted that children have been born with Covid-19 because the mother had it. It is also known that a person can have the virus before the symptoms. These being the cases, would it be wise to try and conceive right now? I dont mean to be fearmongering, but we do need to consider these things.

Of course not, not under the current circumstances. It's better to wait it out and just conceive later.

I second @tyche suggestion. Is better to avoid for a while as we monitor the situation. But honestly, the lockdown encourages people to indulge a little more. Since the forms of entertainment are limited. Thus it's almost impossible to manage the rate of pregnancies that will be recorded during this period.

In some countries, sex is the only form of entertainment the adults have. Since they lack TVs and Internet! Thus as early as 7pm, when the curfews and lockdown are implemented, the couples get busy. Am afraid we may come out of this with an abnormal increase in population, even with the significant decrease reported due to the virus!

The social departments in the relevant countries must kick in early to Sanitize the masses on how to conduct themselves during this complicated times.

Ah but I think if there will be increase in population then I think it offsets the decrease brought about by the disease.

I have seen the news about the baby with the virus which is obviously an inborn disease coming from the mother. This is not fear-mongering because it is scientific and fully explained in one news segment on tv. So if you will conceive now, there is the probability that you can get infected by the covid-19 and that your baby might also be contaminated. But I understand that some couples just couldn't wait. The advice is to wait for some time until the smoke of the virus gets clearer.

What do you mean sex is the only form of entertainment left for adults without tv and internet? I'm pretty sure there are other things to do to pass time. Also, using protection is highly recommended.

When I was young, it was a common remark that the poor family has no diversion or entertainment that they tend to have more children. They have no tv which was very expensive during that time. I guess it is not really accurate and I believe that it is just a saying. The real reason for poor families to have more babies is that they do not practice birth control.

Well said. Some people are just either too lazy to learn about birth control or they do it on purpose. I know some cultures don't condone such practices: the men don't use rubbers; women don't have a say on how many kids they get to have, etc. Promulgation of contraceptives and it's benefits should reach even the remotest of areas.

That is the reality for many households. Adoption Contraceptives has been on the decline since HIv stopped becoming a scare!

I totally agree with you because if you can prevent harming the newborn by all means it may not be advisable to. But what if the pandemic is here for life? What if we are supposed to by now have gotten used to it? What if there is no virus found? Will we never make babies again?

There are new mothers every day. Some are planned , some are not. The important thing to remember is, if you are pregnant right now, take every precaution and make a religion out of the measures WHO has put in place. Be safe.

Well, that's a very challenging question for the couple to decide especially when they're newly wed.

Generally speaking it is unwise for them to do that. Anyone in their family may not agree with that. If they have to insist, it's up for the couple. But if they have postpone it, they have to wait until when the Covid is contained or the vaccine is available.

As much as they are newly weds, they should think of the future of the child they want to bring forth. Its just not good timimg.

True, I have seen some blogs and politicians supporting the conspiracy theory that Covid-19 is not real. Even when prominent people are dying, people who did not have a history of being sick! I will not subscribe to such. Better be safe than sorry!

Ensample the president of Tanzania keeps saying there is no coronavirus in his country. No people have been reported to have the disease or to have perished from the same. Do you think he knows something we don't?

Even the president of America didn't wear a mask until recently. Everybody was dying and he didn't care. Many people believe it is a lie. They hear of people dying, people who we don't know, people who the government refuses to reveal their names. I always take precautions. Better safe than sorry. I always wear my mask, never wonder around aimlessly, am always in the house. Sanitizing everywhere I go that is in case I have to leave the house.

I also believe he does. It's strange how there are no leaks to the number of deaths in that country. Nothing is being reported from there. It is such a shame if he is punishing the citizens because he told them to not even wear masks. I'm sure so many are dead.

Well, he is either lying through his teeth, or he is telling the truth. If it is the former, he is a politician so we kind of expect that from him, but if it is the latter then WHO owes us an explanation!

It would be such a shame if he knows anything about the pandemic and he is revealed much later. Maybe he conspired with the people who invented the pandemic, such a shame. Unfortunately, I do not know anyone who stays there. I could have asked them what is happening and are people dying?
