It is important for children to have table manners. As the old folks say, the manners of a child in the dining table reflects the teachings of the parents. Table manners is being prim and reserved with a "please" when getting something that is not reachable. Chewing the food completely and not hurrying likewise with the quantity of food on the plate. And the most important is the leftover, there should be no leftover on the plate.

We were also taught table manners in the past, like saying grace and saying "please" when we ask someone to pass the food. It is more respectful that way if children are polite in front of the table.
