In my observation and experience, all kids enjoy cartoon shows and cartoon movies. What are the reasons behind this interest? Why are kids after animated characters?
It is not really after the animated characters I believe the kids prefer cartoons but I may be wrong. I think it is the lack of language that they relate to. Very young children enjoy watchimg stuffs like Tom and Jerry and bright coloured cartoons that move a lot etc without a dialogue. Later when they learn the language and understand it they enjoy cartoons with dialogues. Again the special abilities that the cartoons have might be another reason that kids love them. The ability to never die, or get hurt, fly high like spiderman etc could be a thrill at their age.
It has to be the bright bold colours as well as the cute pictures that keep the children glued to the TV when cartoons are on. I think it is the parents as well, they like what we teach them to like. It is us parents that show our children what we do with our day. For example, we normally ask them in an interesting voice with a big smile on our faces 'you wanna watch Tom n' Jerry?' or 'woo honey there's cartoons on telly, c'mon and watch.' If we were to say with an awful expression 'oh no, it's cartoons on again, oh my giddy aunt it's Tom and Jerry as well, God help us what will we do? oh dear, what a terrible thing cartoons are on the telly again!' then children would probably think that they would never ever want to watch a cartoon ever in their lives.
You are right, kids learn a lot of social cues from others and these heavily influence what they like and want to do vs. what they don't. Other than what's already been mentioned I also think one thing about cartoons that make them so appealing to kids is the fact that they tend to be pretty over the top and exaggerated, which kids seem to like. Many also have themes that they can relate to on some level.
I think that cartoons are louder with their actions than with their words. They can do things normal people can't like fall off a cliff and survive and I guess that's amusing to kids. Some girls also look up to princesses but princesses like that don't exist like they do in cartoons. Boys like superheroes or villains that have abilities that don't exist in reality. They look up to them and like watching their favorite characters in action.
They try to relate with the characters of the cartoon they watch. The whole thing fascinate them a lot. One other thing those characters appear very gorgeous this too also pick the attention of the children. Many actions are over exaggerated and keeps them wanting to see more.
It beats me. They are drawn to it naturally. Of course, they do like animals and stuff like that, but why are they particularly drawn toward artwork and not real life. Of course, I could be wrong. When I was a kid I liked some movies that were mostly real life like Mary Poppins and Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Nonetheless, like any other kid, I was intrigued with cartoons, my favorites being Inspector Gadget and Scooby Doo. By the way, do they still have Saturday morning cartoons in the USA or is that a relic of the past? That was always a big day for any kid in the US at one time. The animation that we call cartoons have that sparkle similar to tv commercials. We have noticed that babies are easily attracted to tv commercials because of the soundtrack which is hard to explain. With animation, kids are also attracted with a particular sparkle that may be considered as out of ordinary or fantasy. Kids love to imagine and animation is giving them the imagination.
I would like to admit that as an adult I do enjoy cartoon movies, animated films and shows. In the case of the kids, they are still in process to exploring things, to satisfy their curiosity so much with believing the incredible, the impossible for that matter. They do so to speak movies of make-believe which is beyond their imagination and it could only be supplied by those animation and cartoon shows/movies.
Until now, I have to admit it's not something that I've thought all that much about, but just been happy and glad that they do because it keeps them quiet for a while! Seriously though, I'd just imagine it's just to do with the colours, the characters and the element of fun that they portray. I even know a few adults that still like watching cartoons to be honest, and when you look at how popular shows like The Simpsons and Family Guy is, you could ask the question do we really ever grow up!
Well not just babies and kids, I'm 29 but I still do watch animated series. But there might be a big difference. Kids and babies watch them maybve because of the colors and the music that they hear. While on my part, I watch it because of the story.
If you observe closely, almost all cartoon movies are some or other way related to fantasy which really enthralls kids. They experience something which is not present in the real life and moreover they are full of fun. Take the case of cartoon characters like Superman or Batman, they got super powers that ignite curiosity in kids. But nowadays I think kids love real fantasy movies like X-Men, Avengers, Hulk etc. They can watch as it happens in the real world. To be frank adults also love cartoon movies. I am a big fan cartoon movies like Ice Age, Monsters inc etc. We use to watch it together.
I think kids love watching cartoons because they're fast-paced just like TV commercials and they're simple and straightforward. too. There aren't that many complicated emotions involved, just like what kids are at the time. The simplicity of the show likewise allows them to focus on the character and their actions. My son liked Tom and Jerry when he was about two to three years old and though they're not exactly the best role models for him, Tom and Jerry made him laugh and taught him about stuff around the house that would not have caught his attention otherwise.
Kids are more visual. They are attracted to colorful and somewhat playful characters. The sounds also is a great addition to why kids love to watch cartoons.
Kids enjoy cartoons because they like fun colors and animated characters. My daughter loves many charcters and has many cartoon character dolls. She also enjoys the fun music that most cartoons have especially ones she can dance to or sing along to. I also love cartoons as they are great attention catchers.
Well I suppose that the content and the stories are for them, and also the animation probably appeals to them more than others. I am not sure why this is the case though, and that itself is pretty interesting to me.
Cartoon shows are usually visually appealing. Also, these are made without requiring much understanding of real concepts. It's a form of practicing society for them. Although cartoons have moral teachings, these are secondary. Overall, kids love it because it is amusing.
Kids relate better with strange looking out of the world characters with strange and different activities. They also get fascinated by the action of cartoon characters and love all what these different looking characters do. And why only children but some grown ups too watch cartoon movies with as much interest as the kids do.
I have actually asked myself this particular question over and over again but I really don't seem to have any good answer for it. The one that baffles me much is when it's adults that are addicted to these cartoon animated characters. My junior brother who is 25 years now, it would really amaze you that his best fun and most watched movie is cartoon of all sorts. He doesn't discriminate, as long as it's cartoons, he is perfectly comfortable with it. I simply think that it's kids view of how life is that makes them addicted to cartoon. It makes them laugh and be happy.
It's not just kids that like cartoons it's adults too. I like nothing better than to sit and watch a cartoon with my granddaughter, We both like Horrid Henry and Charlie and Lola and she will always call me when they come on the tv. I suppose it has to do with the wonderful world of make believe that children love, the bright colours and the fact that all the characters spring back to life after being flattened! Cartoons always have happy endings too; I've never seen one that had a sad ending.
Kids are innocent and love cartoons because they make them laugh. Cartoons are a child's perspective of seeing the world. Cartoons are the only things a kid understands and can explain it to others. I remember watching Tom and Jerry, Mickie Mouse, Donald Duck, Scooby-doo and the Flintstones when I was a kid. It uplifted my mood and always kept me happy. I still love to watch cartoons with my friend's kid daughter. She laughs and rejoices whenever her favorite cartoons are on.
Cartoon characters are kind of imaginary stuff which are quite related (similar to) to toys and all that. May be that's why. The story and all are related with imaginary stories for kids which are specially made for kids. Honestly not only kids there are cartoons and anime series which are good for elders too. So its all about story line and characters.
The questions is why did an adult choose cartoons as a means of communicating to kids. Kids, like adults, want something they can relate to something that even without verbal communication, they can get the message from the body language of the cartoon character.
Its hard to tell why kids like watching cartoons but it seems they can identify with the goofy characters sometimes and they can learn things this way. Another big reason is that they can escape their problems and get away from boring things, like doing their homework-by watching these cartoons-and they provide a nice dreamlike fantasy to these kids which makes their dreams come true when watching. I think overall a cartoon, kind of creates a character-the same age as the kid and he can relate to them in this way.
I think because of the bright color of the animation or cartoons. Not only the color but also the character and the sounds.I don't really understand why kids love cartoon but I remember when I was 7 years old, the reasons why I love watching cartoons especially if the story is all about the princess. It's because I always imagine that I was that princess married to a handsome prince and I wish I have her sparkling gown and glass shoes. We are full of fantasy when we were kids maybe that's why kids are attracted to anime or cartoons.
Cartoons are tailor-made for kids, and such images really attract them because they are "kiddie" in nature. Also kids are attracted to drawings in general, so it comes as no surprise that kids would love cartoons, because they are "pre-programmed" already to love them.
The concept of happiness in kids is fun besides mutual affection and purchased niceties. They are naturally attracted to brilliant colours and motion which are both depicted in cartoons which also bear a visual impression to kids as their agemates.
Because it's fascinating with something on a flat screen? Why do you enjoy Netflix? It's simply entertaining, and chill as they don't have to do anything.
Haha! I don't think only kids love cartoons. I am 36 now and still love watching cartoons. But maybe the reason why kids love them is they are colorful and funny. When I was a kid, I love watching carebears and started loving soft colors because of that show. I enjoyed garfield and friends because of their color too. Also the reason is cartoons is packed of movements too. Kids that are so young loves to see action/moving in television and never really paid attention to the storyline. So that must be the reason. I guess the kid in me never left me for I still love watching cartoons.
